Berry family papers, 1709-1941.

Papers are concerned mainly with the settlement of the estates of a number of the ancestors of Romeyn Berry, including Ebenezer Slocum of the Colony of Rhode Island; John Berry, three generations of Philip Berrys, and William R. Bogardus, of Bergen County and elsewhere in New Jersey; and the Rev. James Romeyn Berry, Harriet Van Vranken Esselstyn Berry, and Charlotte Wiltse Berry, mainly of Hudson, Columbia County, and Rhinebeck, Dutchess County, New York. Items include wills, letters testamentary, deeds, MS. real estate maps, correspondence, and accounts; also, the marriage certificate, 1709, of Samuel Dyer of Newport, Rhode Island, and Desire Slocum of Jamestown in the same colony, a draft of the Rev. J. Romeyn Berry's resignation, 1868, as pastor of the Third Reformed (Dutch) Church of Jersey City and his formal call, 1869, to the pastorate of the church at Fishkill Landing, New York; and a MS. and printed collection of literary and Biblical riddles and puzzles.
